A First-Timer's Guide to a Waiheke Wine Tour
Ferries, timings and how many tastings is genuinely enough.

Waiheke is forty minutes from downtown Auckland and about a century away in pace. Here is how to spend a first day on the island without wasting an hour of it.
Take the 9am ferry
It gives you the full day, the calmest crossing and the best chance of an empty cellar door at your first stop. We meet guests at Matiatia Wharf with a welcome board.

Three tastings, one long lunch
Three estates give you range without fatigue: something crisp, something structured, something surprising. Lunch in the middle keeps the day civilised.
What to bring
Sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, a light rain jacket and shoes you can walk a vineyard row in. Everything else we handle.
